Melanie Markusic is the Associate Vice President of Operations and Program Development at Athena. In her role, she provides innovative and strategic direction in advancing the services and overall mission of Athena. She also has administrative oversight of enrollment services, as well as Athena’s general administration and operations.
Melanie has been engaged in the field of international education for over 15 years, while working in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Athena, she served as the Policy and Immigration Compliance Officer at The Ohio State University, Assistant Director and Director of International Student and Scholarship Services at Drexel University and Ashland University, respectively. She earned a Master of Nonprofit Management (MNO) from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and a BA in International Relations and Economics from The Ohio State University.
Melanie is originally from Germany (with roots in the U.S. and Croatia), and is dedicated to advancing international understanding through education, study abroad experiences, and facilitating opportunities for cultural exchange through Athena’s Community Enrichment Program.
