It’s here. The trip that I’ve spend countless hours planning and talking about. I ventured through security and I now have about two and a half hours to kill before my flight departs. I sadly do not have free wifi in this airport so I may be posting this blog at a later time.
Today I venture into the vast unknown called “Big-Girl Land.” I am an adult! I am flying to Italy by myself! I still can’t believe it. It’s like a dream. I lift praise and glory to God, for NONE of this could be accomplished without him. I pray that he protects me during my travels and that I can let my light shine while studying abroad so Christ can reach even more people.
A big shoutout goes to my family. (HI MOM, DAD, AND SISSY!)
I’m ready to galavant and she’s a little concerned .
Of course he would gesture to himself expecting affection.
And then the best sister in the world. Duh, she’s awesome.
Without your love and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today for many many reasons. Thank God that I’m only going to be in Italy for a month because that’s probably my limit of how long I can be without my family. A month seems like just the perfect amount of time to explore Rome, though I know it’s going to fly by much faster than I expect.
For anybody who wants to get ahold of me while I’m abroad, we have a few options here! If you have an iPhone, please download the free app called “Viber.” There is a quick and easy setup that it walks you through and this will allow for us to text and/or call whenever I have wifi. If that’s too much work, I’d love for you to comment on this blog if you feel comfortable doing so! Or if you have my email, that’s a great option as well.
Please subscribe to this blog via email at the bottom of this webpage to be updated about my crazy Italy endeavors when I post a new blog.
The adventures of Anna Ri in Italy will commence in approximately four and a half hours. HOLY GOODNESS.
I better start studying some of that Italian now…
Washington Dulles Airport, Washington D.C.
I am one lucky girl. I changed my seat for my flight yesterday because I wanted a window seat and then lo and behold, nobody was sitting next to me! SO. MUCH. SPACE.Not saying I’m antisocial… I just had a feeling I was going to end up next to a large, sweaty man who just ate tons of Mexican food like all the movies lead me to believe. The worst thing about the flight was the fact that a loud lil crybaby was behind me. But she was cute, so I’ll accept it this time. 😉
I got some studying done, drank hot tea (See, I’m an adult now), bonded with the extremely friendly flight attendants, and started reading one of my favorite books (The Time Traveler’s Wife)!
I loved looking at clouds as we flew through them! My goodness, it looked like a theme park for angels. If I were an angel, I would jump on those beautifully plump clouds like they were a trampoline or something. I couldn’t help but smile and reverently praise God for his beautiful creation.
Currently, I am sitting at a very busy Subway (as in the fast food chain) and eavesdropping on all of these beautiful accents that surround me. My connection flight to Italy departs around 5:30 p.m., so I have time to peruse the snazzy D.C. airport. I’m debating on getting one of these “10 Minute Manicures” done.
