That title is cheesy. I so don’t care. I’m too blissful right now.
Let’s backtrack a bit though, shall we?
On my 8 hour flight, my neighbor was a sweet woman from North Carolina named Brendalee. She took me in like I was her own daughter and was just the sweetest thing.
Pictures from the flight:
It’s amazing to see the sun set and the sun rise within just a few hours of each other. Once again, I’m enthralled by God’s glory. Along with this beautiful sunrise was a complimentary breakfast which included fruit and a croissant! This was very exciting for me. It’s the little things in life, ya know?
Brendalee, her husband, and I stuck together even after we landed. At this point I feel like I’ve known them for years, like I’m some sort of adoptive granddaughter. They stuck with me for a long time helping me find the representative from my school who was to escort me to a taxi. It was sad leaving Brendalee, but I gave her a huge hug before I left. I’m now regretting not taking a picture with her. Dang that sleepy stupor that was in charge of me.
Rain poured down as my handsome, Italian taxi driver drove me to my apartment. He didn’t really know English, and I was too sleepy to try my hand at Italian. Once at my apartment (which is adorable), all was well and I took one of the best naps of my life until I heard my roommate/suite-mates in the hall.
OMG I CAN START MAKING FRIENDS NOW.
They are all incredibly sweet girls and I can already tell that we’re going to have a blast. We’re busy planning adventures which may cost a small fortune, but it’ll be worth the experience.
My roommate (Lauren), Hayley, and I went roaming about Rome for about an hour and that was SO FUN!Suite-mate Haley
The smell of the honeysuckle or whatever the heck this is overwhelms the streets. I can’t help but smile as I’m walking thinking, “This is really happening. I’m wandering down the streets of Rome.”
We made a stop in a quaint little bar (or cafe) to buy a yummy treat. I froze yet again with my Italian speaking skills. That was embarrassing. Oh well, because I got my treat and it was delicious. (Cue the weight-gaining. By the way, I’m still taking bets on how much weight I’m going to gain. Leave your guess in the comment section!)
The cute elevator inside our apartment building.
Hey, I found Waldo! He’s been hiding in Rome all this time!
It’s around 7:00 p.m. here (Noon in OKC) so we still have a little bit left of our day. Dinner typically starts at around 8:00 in Italy so we’ll do that and then probably hit the hay early. It’s been a great day!
