After years of searching for a smaller, high-quality Spain program, Athena found CLIC, with campuses in both Cadiz and Seville. With a maximum class-size of 10 students, and top-notch quality, partnering with CLIC-Cadiz was an easy choice.
Founded in 1983, CLIC has become one of Spain’s top language schools.
At CLIC, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom; high quality social and cultural interactions are integral to getting the most out of your experience.
If you want to learn Spanish, Cadiz is a great place to do it. Not only will you be learning Spanish at one of the top language schools in all of Spain, but Cadiz is an excellent place to learn Spanish since most of the locals only speak Spanish ... so you’ll have to as well!
Courses have the following % breakdown:

HUMANITIES | 10% |
Hugo will be your main point of contact in Cadiz. Hugo is part of a team comprised of professionals at CLIC who have years of experience working in the field of international education. Hugo and the team are always prepared to give advice and tips about personal travel, as well as making sure the student experience is as positive as possible.
While we doubt that you will want to leave Cadiz, our program package allows you to add excursions and field trips at an extra cost that will allow you to get an even closer look at the Spanish culture.
Possible trips include:
• Day trips around Cadiz
• Surf Lessons
Cadiz is on Spain’s southern coast, where surfing’s part of the culture. How better to join the culture than to combine Spanish lessons with Surfing Lessons? How do you say 'hang 10' in Spanish? You’ll find out.

On-campus Inclusions: Two beds, full bathroom, kitchen, and living room
Homestay Inclusions: Private room, shared bathroom, two daily meals
This city is more than just beautiful beaches - it also has depth and history. Cadiz is Spain’s oldest city (and some say Europe's oldest), founded around 1100 B.C. More than a few years older than the good old U.S. of A.
Yes! You will have independent time to travel, such as weekends, to travel. Many students choose to stay after the program ends to travel around as well (you must be aware of visa regulations before you make any plans!).
This is an international school that has students from all over the world attending. The school enrollment fluctuates depending on the season, but the typical amount of U.S. students at any given time will have anywhere from 2-20 students on the program. This makes for an incredibly personal and high-quality study abroad experience, things we at Athena pride ourselves on.
Excellent! Being on the southern coast of Spain, seafood dishes are the specialty here. There will also be restaurants with Spanish staples like meats, cheeses and paella.
Vegetarians: Athena’s resident vegetarian gives Cadiz a 6 out of 10 for being vegetarian friendly!
Yes! You can certainly request who you would like to have as your roommate. This is done after you are accepted into the program; you will note this in your housing request forms.
You will fly into Seville, Spain, which is about an hour and a half away. From there, you will head to Cadiz.
We have partnered with STA Travel, an incredible student-focused travel agency. The good people there will be able to help all Athena students arrange flights overseas.
”Athena's locations are incredible & I believe that Cadiz offered me a unique experience! I loved the structure of the classes... programs offered, & help given when needed.”

History, beaches, friendly Spaniards – that’s what Cadiz is like, and what’s not to like?! Located on Spain’s southern coast, Cadiz has a rich culture. Whether you’re in the mood for learning Flamenco, visiting ancient ruins, or shopping in the local markets, Cadiz has it all.
The vibrant people and festive atmosphere provides a special and unique backdrop to learning the Spanish language. When the sun goes down, the beach is still alive as locals and tourists alike gather to socialize.
Incredible beaches … One of Europe’s oldest cities … If you’re truly looking to learn Spanish, Cadiz may be the place for you. Its locals are very friendly, but English isn’t the language here - Spanish is. And that’s a huge plus if that’s what you’re looking to learn.
