Exploring Paris

I finally got to go to Paris!!! So far Paris has been my favorite trip since coming to Spain. I looked the city and seeing everything that is there. I got to see the Eiffel Tower, Versailles and a lot of other things in the city. Just walking around Paris was amazing. All the buildings and shops and restaurants were all beautiful and everything just seemed to fit together. There was a lot of shopping there and most of the stores were big time, expensive stores like Gucci and Versace, things that I definitely cannot afford.

The first day in Paris I mainly just walked around and explored. I wanted to see as much of the city as I could. Some of the main things I got to see was the Eiffel tower and Notre Dame. The Eiffel Tower was about as much as I expected it to be. It was huge and it was beautiful. The lawn in front of the tower was all fenced off and we couldn’t figure out why. It made it a little more difficult to take pictures with the Eiffel tower but didn’t take away being able to be there and see it.

Notre Dame was also an amazing thing to be able to see. The outside of the church is just as beautiful as the inside. Since I was there in the first week of December they were starting to put up Christmas decorations in and outside the church and they were beautiful. Something that was different than a lot of the other churches I was able to see in Europe was that there was a gift shop right inside the church. I found that kind of odd and very different but it was still very tasteful. It was very subtle and sold rosaries and candles for prayer along with some little gifts.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go to the Louvre museum because of protest demonstrations in the city. They had to close most of the major landmarks in Paris because of the protests. I was able to see the outside of the museum which was cool but I definitely will have to go back to Paris to see the museum.

My last day in Paris I got to visit Versailles. I was most looking forward to seeing Versailles during my trip. I have learned a lot of this castle and how it affected France and the revolution while in high school so I was very excited to be able to see the building in person. It definitely lived up to its hype. Every inch of Versailles was decorated beautifully with a lot of detail. I didn’t realize how big Versailles was until I got there. It’s about the size of a whole town! The grounds and pretty much everything about the building is beautiful. Every room was decorated floor to ceiling and even the ceiling in most rooms had a beautiful mural covering it. Something I noticed was that pretty much every room had gold in it whether it was just a hint of it or it was the main point of the room. Seeing Versailles was definitely the highlight of my trip and I would 100% go back in a heart beat. There was so much to see just in the building alone that you cannot just go once.
