Dublin Week 7

My parents came to see me! It was so amazing to see my parents in Ireland. My dad has always wanted to visit Ireland and it was unbelievable to see them here and get to show them a few of my favorite places around Dublin. We toured both the Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Factory. We also went to the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and a few other places. It was incredible to finally see them because I had been missing home. It also marked the beginning of a whirlwind next couple of weeks.

Right in the middle of my parents visiting was Halloween. I was surprised how big of a deal Halloween is in Ireland. There was a parade and people dressed up the entire weekend before. The night of Halloween, my friends and I went to the Student Union’s party. They rented out an entire club for the night called Turks head. It was so much fun and also surreal that the student union at my college threw a Halloween party at a nightclub. I felt like that wouldn’t happen back in the States!

Near the end of the week, a small group of friends and I prepared to travel. Assignment week was coming up and many of the study abroad students use that as an opportunity to travel. We planned to go to Amsterdam and Barcelona as a group. From there we would all branch off and go on our own travels for the end of the week. So at the end of the week, we all made our way to Amsterdam…
