On April 18, 2018, Team Athena joined together to celebrate our Founder being named to NW Pennsylvania’s Forty Under 40 list. The county’s four chambers of commerce – Greenville Area, Shenango Valley, Mercer Area, and Grove City Area – named our own Stacy McKay Benander, President of Athena Study Abroad, one of the county’s top forty business professionals under the age of 40. This year’s winners were judged on their leadership skills, professional success and community engagement. The award ceremony took place at the Park Inn by Radisson in West Middlesex, PA, and brought together young professionals from a wide range of professions including medicine, education, law, art, and more. This is the second time that Stacy has received this honor. In 2010, Stacy was named to Columbus, Ohio’s Forty Under 40 list by Columbus Business First.
REFLECTING BACK ON ATHENA
Members of Team Athena (both current and former staff) as well as friends and family joined together to celebrate Stacy, as well as Athena’s entire amazing journey over the last 13 years. One of the evening’s special surprises happened when Stacy’s brother Matt McKay (who was also Athena’s first employee!) showed up as a surprise guest for Stacy!
The evening was full of laughs, tears, and a long trip down memory lane where we shared stories about Athena’s first students, our first catalog (with only 2 programs listed) and our first website (rather humble to reflect back on now!), and all of the amazing students, staff, partners, and friends who have make Athena what and who it is over the many years.
SPECIAL THANK YOU!
Stacy recorded a special ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported Athena and helped us become what we are today. Please join us congratulating Stacy!
