What to see in Tuscania

Town
  • Basilica di San Pietro: Built in the 8th century and renovated in the 12th, this town church is still used. Make sure you go underneath to find a magnificent hidden crypt with cross vaults supported by 28 Roman marble columns.
  • Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore: Constructed during the 8th century and later enhanced and modified in the 12th-13th century.
  • Etruscan Necropolises: Throughout the area surrounding Tuscania, there are several Etruscan burial grounds.
  • Museo Archeologico: The Archaeology Museum is comprised of four rooms exhibiting funerary artifacts from the Etruscan tombs.
  • Torre di Lavello: This picturesque greenspace offers one of the most beautiful views of the historic center of Tuscania.
  • Fontana delle Sette Cannelle: The city's Fountain of the Seven Spouts dates back to the Etrusco-Roman period and is a short distance away from the historic lavatoi (public laundry).
