First Week of Classes

This past week has gone by so fast I am shocked. Classes began last week and so far aren’t too bad. The way mine ended up working out is most of them are on Monday. Luckily though, we go on many field trips around the area to learn more about the topics we are studying so it’s way better than just sitting in class all day. Last weekend, some of us went to Stuggart to get away and start getting comfortable with traveling around. I am happy to say we didn’t get lost and the train station was really easy to figure out. Stuggart was nice and the people were friendly. There was a huge festival going on so there were tents set up all over with beautiful decorations. This weekend almost everyone is going to Amsterdam together and I can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like. Our Director of the program Thomas, took the class hiking for 5 hours up this hill to see all of the towers of Heidelberg and the outside theater that people still use today for celebrations during April. Everyone here has been so friendly that it’s great to be surrounded by good people in our home away from home.Yesterday one of our classes visited the Patrick Henry Village, where many of us are volunteering to help with the little kids. The Patrick Henry Village is a Refugee Center for about 2,000 people from all over the world to stay for a few weeks at a time to feel safe. It really makes me think about how grateful I am with where I live and I want to help out as much as possible. Today our Art History class is going to visit some cathedrals and tomorrow Thomas is taking us on another trip to go see the Schwetzingen Palace and Gardens. This is all in just one week so I am ready to see what the weeks ahead have to come.
